GFK - 0561 X August 2011 I MPORTANT P RODUCT I NFORMATION READ THIS INFORMATION FIRST Product: Communications Coprocessor IC693CMM311 T with Firmware Version 4.3 Note: For new and revised installation requirements for this module, see Installation Requirements for Conformance to Standards, GFK - 1179M or later. Th is release consists of a hardware change to resolve a component obsolescence issue. Features, performance and compatibility are not affected. Update Strategy Firmware version 4.3 can be instal led on IC693CMM311N and earlier versions by installing the upgrade kit, 44A731229 - G09. The kit contains a new PROM and must be ordered from the factory. Product Documentation Series 90 * PLC Serial Co mmunications User’s Manual , GFK - 0582 Data Sheet included in Series 90 - 30 Programmable Controller Installation and Hardware Manual , GFK - 0356 Functional Compatibility This revision is fully compatible with previous revisions. Subject Description PLC CPU Com patibility Series 90 - 30 PLC CPU firmware release 4 or later is required to use the SNP Update Real Time Datagram Service. Programmer Version Requirements Proficy* Machine Edition Logic Developer version 2.60 or later, VersaPro* version 2.03 or later, CIMP LICITY Control version 2.50 or later, or Logicmaster Release 3 or later is required to configure the IC693CMM311 Problems Resolved by Firmware Version 4.3 Subject Description SNP and SNP - X ignore Attach messages when the CPU has a level 2 password. In pr evious firmware versions, the SNP and SNP - X protocols ignore Attach messages when the PLC CPU has a password at privilege level 2. In version 4.3, SNP and SNP - X masters are able to attach and obtain read - only access to PLC data when there is a level 2 pas sword. SNP masters are not permitted to obtain write access to PLC data by using the correct password. If there is a level 2 password, the PLC CPU posts an Invalid Password fault in the PLC fault table whenever 1) an IC693CMM311 powers on or resets, 2) an IC693CMM311 receives an Attach or X - Attach message from an SNP or SNP - X master, or 3) an SNP master connected to an IC693CMM311 attempts to use a valid or invalid password. * indicates a trademark of GE Intelligent Platforms, Inc. and/or its affiliates. It is recommended that the data rate on either CMM port not exceed 9600 bps when using both ports simultaneously. SNP/ SNP - X protocols do not support two - wire RS - 485 operation While both the RTU and CCM protocols do support a two - wire RS - 485 operation, SNP/SNPX do not. Only four - wire RS - 485 operation is supported. WAIT Mode CCM COMREQ Programming a CCM COMREQ command for WAIT mode will degrade the PLC sweep time and may halt the PLC CPU, turning off its OK LED. Do not use WAIT mode COMMREQs unless you have a compelling reason. If WAIT mode is used, it is absolutely essential that no COMMREQs are sent until the CMM is ready to accept them, and that the sum of the worst - case PLC sweep time (without sending a COMREQ) plus the longer of the two COMREQ time - out values is less than the PLC CPU watchdog timer setting. If two or more WAIT mode COMMREQs can be sent during the same P LC sweep, the total of the time - outs for all COMMREQs must be considered. The SNP and SNP - X protocols do not support WAIT mode COMMREQs. CCM Time - out with SHORT config value When the CCM “Timeout” configuration parameter is set to SHORT, CCM data transfer may time - out if the PLC scan is longer than 10 milliseconds. It is recommended that the “Timeout” configuration parameter be set to MEDIUM or LONG Installation in Hazardous Areas The following information is for products bearing the UL marking for Hazar dous Areas : WARNING - EXPLOSION HAZARD - SUBSTITUTION OF COMPONENTS MAY IMPAIR SUITABILITY FOR CLASS I, DIVISION 2; WARNING - EXPLOSION HAZARD - WHEN IN HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS, TURN OFF POWER BEFORE REPLACING OR WIRING MODULES; AND WARNING - EXPLOSION HAZARD - DO NOT CONNECT OR DISCONNECT EQUIPMENT UNLESS POWER HAS BEEN SWITCHED OFF OR THE AREA IS KNOWN TO BE NONHAZARDOUS. EQUIPMENT LABELED WITH REFERENCE TO CLASS I, GROUPS A, B, C & D, DIV. 2 HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS IS SUITABLE FOR USE IN CLASS I, DIVISION 2, GRO UPS A, B, C, D OR NON - HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS ONLY.
